Adult Recognition Dinner and Council Annual Meeting
Please join us for the Annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner and Council Annual Business Meeting on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. The program includes a full sit down dinner.

A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Silver Beaver Award - the highest honor a council can bestow upon adult volunteers who implement the Scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self-sacrifice, dedication, and many years of service.
This year's Silver Beaver Recipients:
Aaron Clark has been involved in Scouting in the Appalachian Trail District of the Western Massachusetts Council for over 10 years now. When his son David joined Cub Scouting Aaron jumped in feet first and has actively supported the movement. From Tiger Leader to Cubmaster and Charter Organization Representative to District Chairman and Executive Board Member Aaron has given freely of his talents and time. Currently Aaron is an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 8 in Pittsfield and works with the Regional Camp Assessment Team visiting and inspecting local camps.
Outside of Scouting he is married to his lovely wife Brenda, is a member of the St. Helena’s Chapel Parish in Lenox, a member of the Lenox Sportsman’s Club and works for Lipton Energy as their IT manager.
Joe is a lifelong Scout and Scouter here in Western Massachusetts with nearly 45 years of dedicated service to the movement. As a youth Joe worked his way through the ranks and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 1981 as a member of Troop 82 in Feeding Hills. In his youth Joe was camper and later served on the staff at the Horace A. Moses Scout Reservation in different capacities from 1981 to 1987 and he continues to attend summer camp as a dedicated leader. A Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow, Joe was co-advisor of the ceremonies team for Allogagan Lodge. Joe was a Wood Badge participant earning his beads in 1984 and has served on Wood Badge Staff in 2014 and 2016. Joe has been a valuable instructor for many other training courses as well. Joe also shared his talents with the Western Massachusetts Council as a staff member for Adventure 2010 and Voyages 2015.
Joe loves to be in the outdoors and travel wherever adventure takes him and his wife Mary. He is the Director of Engineering Services for Cyalume Technologies.
Matt has been involved in Scouting for over 20 years. In 1997 Matt earned his Eagle Scout and has continued to give back to Scouting through is involvement in Troop and Crew 168 in Monson. Matt has been a driving force in Venturing in the Western Massachusetts Council. From Advisor to Associate Advisor and now Committee Chair Matt has seen Venturing grow. This past year Crew 168 saw the council’s first Summit Award recipient. As a Venturing Roundtable Commissioner and the Advisor for the Western Massachusetts Council’s Explorer and Venturing Officers Association he continues to work with the youth of the Council to expand these vital programs.
In addition to his work with Venturing Matt has been an active member of the council’s Training Committee. Matt was a Wood Badge participant in 2006 and has returned as a staffer in 2011 and in 2014. Matt received the General Knox District Award of Merit in 2016 and was awarded his Commissioner’s Arrowhead Award in 2017.
When Matt is not busy Scouting around he finds time to be a genius for Apple.
