Help can be hours away on a day hike or even from front country campsites and activities that are some distance from facilities.

WFA Certification is required for units attending the BSA High Adventure Bases and strongly
recommended for units camping especially in the backcountry.

This is a 16 hour course developed in a BSA/Red Cross partnership. This training goes beyond basic first aid to prepare you for situation when rescue and medical care will be hours away.

CPR is not included in the course. Participants are required to have CPR certification prior to the course.

All adult leaders should be trained and improve their knowledge and skills by re-certifying every two years. Scouts must be 14 years 14 years old and First Class or higher rank to earn certification.

The course is limited to 12 leaders and scouts.
