Rules for the Day

Please arrive at 8:30 for registration.  Registration will be done as a pack (6-8 as a den).  Registration will take place in the pavilion adjacent to the legion. Leaders, please wait till all members of your pack have arrived before checking in.  Opening will be promptly at 10:00 AM.  Games will start at 10:15 AM.

Lunch will be provided for all registered participants with a wristband.  Wristbands will be provided at check-in.  Choice of Tiger Tail Dog (hot dog), or Gorilla ‘d  Cheese, Python Pasta & Monkey Meatballs, with Chips and Rainforest Treat.  Hot Chocolate, Coffee and water will be provided throughout the day. Please bring a mug with a lid for each participant to carry around all day.

A map of the grounds and where the events will be will be provided upon check-in.  Events will include:

Fire building

Catapults

Sled Races

Team building activities

Donut making

Memory Game

Jungle Course

Monkey Bridge

Shelter Building

First Aid

 

Have your boys and your parents to be prepared for a typical cold January day where they are going to be outside for a good majority of it.  Boots, gloves, hats, long underwear, layers etc.  This year there will be a sled race!  Each den sled should have with it a rope for towing, a mascot hopefully representative of the theme of Jungle Safari, a den flag (homemade) and a blanket.  There will be judging of the sleds along with an emphasis on scout spirit!  Sleds for the race, cannot have runners or wheels or skis (for safety).

School age siblings can participate if they have their respective leader’s approval.  As expected, they will need to be registered and paid for.

EXTRA HATS, Gloves, Spare socks are strongly advised!

There will be ribbons this year for participation, sleds, scout spirit and various events.  Anyone that has any special needs is encouraged to visit the first aid station upon arrival so that we can make the necessary accommodations.  Any other questions please email the Yukon coordinator Brenda Kantor at brendakantor@gmail.com

FAQs

Can Siblings come?
The answer is YES.  If the sibling is elementary school aged, as all the activities are geared towards K-5.  It is also left to the discretion of the cub leader as well.  Same registration fee applies.

How about parents / leaders fee for the day?
We ask that each parent / leader pay the registration fee if they are sharing lunch, and therefore should officially register.  To keep to the rules of the Guide to Safe Scouting, please keep in mind the TWO DEEP LEADERSHIP requirements.  Please also list non-lunching adults that will be present with the scouts during the event.

What kind of awards will there be?
There will be awards for participation, spirit, sled competition and various other activities.  These will be ribbons and presented at the closing ceremonies.

What happens if there is a snow storm or bad weather?
The show goes on unless there is danger of frostbite to participants.  In the unlikely event of cancellation due to weather there will be no makeup date however there will be refunds of registration fees.

What if there is are medical or special accommodations needed?
There will be a medic onsite and it is suggested upon arriving that you notify the Yukon Derby coordinator, Bryan Kantor and the registration team of the accommodations needed.

Breakfast Available Donuts and breakfast sandwiches will be for sale, but lunch is included with registration.

Remember your MUG, coffee and hot chocolate are free all day with your mug!!!!
