Blacksmith Manager

Get to know the WHOA staff!

Dana Dupuis

Our blacksmith program manager was one of our first staff members dating back to the January 2018 WHOA! Not only has Dana been a metal worker for over thirty years, blacksmithing for over ten years and been a bladesmith for six years but he’s also our first TV star! Appearing on the History Channel’s Forged In Fire reality program, he was tasked to make a double-edged knife.  Unfortunately, Dana did not prevail for although he’s experienced in forging knives, he never made a double edge knife before because they’re illegal to own in Massachusetts!

Dana served our country in the U.S. Air Force Reserves for twenty-seven years, retiring in 2014 as a Master Sergeant E-7. He is also a veteran of foreign wars as an OIF OEF in Operation Desert Storm. So, when you see him be sure to thank him for doing his part in helping to keep us safe.

When Dana isn’t at home in Hampden banging on red hot metal on his own forge or cooking or brewing (or at a WHOA Saturday) you’ll find him working at his real job as a facility engineer at Baystate Medical Center. So, be sure to stop in our Blacksmith Shop this weekend and say hello to Dana . . . and bang some of your own metal too!
