George W. P. Magee Cup Challenge
Throughout the past decade the Western Massachusetts Council has been granted more than $300,000 for camp improvement projects from the George W. P. Magee Memorial Trust. Mr. Magee was a theatrical agent and manager at the turn of the 20th century who, having recognized the positive impact of Scouting on youth, established this trust upon his death in 1933. In return, he asked that recipient councils have competitive games, drills, and/or exhibitions during the week of his birthday for the greatest benefit of the Scouts and to impress upon them the nature of the fund.
With our Western Massachusetts Council in-person camps closed in 2020 by the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic, we invite everyone to participate in our virtual George W. P. Magee Cup Challenge and share your "Magee Miles" with the world on social media. Social media posts, tagged with both #MageeCupChallenge and #wmascouting, will be randomly selected to pick up a Moses Scout Reservation Manor House Hoodie, Moses Nalgene Bottle, or Manor House Coffee Cup at our Westfield Trading Post Location. Watch for additional opportunities for participants to pick up some great Western Massachusetts Council and Moses Scout Reservation overstock items.
