Horace A.
Moses Scout Reservation
|
| The
Moses Scout Reservation is 1600 acres of
Scouting opportunity! The Reservation has
sites for troop tenting, adirondack
shelters, and cabins available for rental
from Labor Day to Memorial Day (see links
below for further information). Moses
is located in Russell, MA, approximately 25
minutes from Exit 3/Westfield of the
Massachusetts Turnpike |
| The
camp includes its own 90 acre lake and
extensive wilderness trails. H.A. Moses is
likely to be the only Scout Reservation in
New England with a Blacksmith Shop open year
'round for troops to enjoy! (Training for
unit leaders is available every Monday
evening of summer camp) |
| During
the summer months, the Reservation is home
to exciting summer camp programs for Boy
Scouts and Cub Scouts (see
Camps).
H.A. Moses is an outstanding facility for
our summer camps: it boasts a COPE course
and climbing wall, rifle, shotgun, archery,
and field archery ranges, and a waterfront
with sail boats, kayaks, canoes and row
boats. |
| Summer
camp at Horace A Moses is accredited by the
Boy Scouts of America: the camp has received
perfect inspection scores by the National
Camp Visitation team for more than TEN
STRAIGHT YEARS (we stopped counting!)!
|
| There
are two sets of adirondack shelters, both
located near the lake in the Camp Woronoak
section of the reservation. Winterized
cabins are located in both the Camp Woronoak
and Camp Knox areas. And with 1600 acres,
there's probably a place for your unit to
set up tents, including backpacking to Camp
Frontier. |

From the Mass Pike, use Exit 3 Westfield,
after the tolls take a right and head
towards downtown Westfield. |
| |
From Westfield's downtown, take RT 20 WEST
to RT 23 Blandford / Otis. |
| |
Follow RT 23 to General Knox Road
(immediately after BASE CAMP CONVENIENCE
STORE), taking a left onto General Knox Rd. |
| |
Follow General Knox Rd over crest, and then
look for Birch Hill Rd on the right. (If
you reach the lake you've gone too far!) |
| |
Turn right onto Birch Hill Rd and follow
this into the reservation. |
